JOHN

John was born in 1996. He started selling at a very early age until 2009 when he started working as a bus conductor. He was arrested by the police at his place of work in Benin City square because he was too young to work.  At that time he was taken to the State Social Welfare facility. In November 2009, the police brought him to Cornerstone of Hope orphanage. He does not know his mummy because he was dropped off after birth. He is one of two siblings. There is an interesting reason behind the marks on his face! Ask us!

John loves soccer and will like to become a professional soccer player when he grows up. His favorite food is fried rice and chicken. His favorite color is white.

ELIJAH

Elijah is 13 year old. He was born in April of 1996. He was brought to the Police station by a Good Samaritan. The Police then brought him to Cornerstone of Hope Orphanage.

Elijah is the last born of four siblings; two have died and his mother was separated from his daddy for several years.  He had a misunderstanding with his daddy due to the manner he was treating his mummy. This created a very bitter taste in the relationship he had with his daddy. After his mummy died in a car accident in 2006, his daddy kicked him out of the home because he lost a friend’s bicycle.

Elijah loves soccer, music and playing with games. He wants to become a politician – President of Nigeria. According to Elijah “I will like to help people when he grow-up because people helped me”.

DIVINE

Divine is 4 years old. There is no known family history for Devine. She likes biscuits and pop drinks. Her favorite color is white.

PATRICK

Patrick was born in Maiduguri State, Nigeria. Patrick is the oldest of three siblings. He was brought to the orphanage by officials of the Ministry of Social Welfare. His daddy was an Army officer who was poisoned many years ago and his mummy died due to an illness. Patrick and his siblings were taken to the children welfare home and later he was brought to Cornerstone of Hope orphanage.

Patrick wants to be a professional soccer player when he grows up. His favorite color is blue. He likes chips.

ANTHONIA - ADOPTED

The middle of three siblings is Anthonia and she is the youngest sister of Patrick and Favour. They lost their parents years ago and were being cared for by the State Welfare Home.  She is one of the first four children brought to Cornerstone of Hope Orphanage by the State Officials in April, 2006.

Her favorite color: is purple and she loves playing with cars, and loves to dance.  Her best clothes are jeans, skirts and a blouse.  She would like to be a nurse when she grows up.

ANTHONY - ADOPTED

Anthony is 8 years old, without any recorded past or history. He was found in a market place and brought to the State Social Welfare Home. In April, 2006, Anthony was one of the first children to arrive at the Cornerstone of Hope Orphanage.  Anthony’s favorite color is red and he lives playing with cars, playing his walkman radio, and playing games.  He likes to sing and dance and his best clothes are jeans, trousers, and shirts.  He would like to become governor of a state in Nigeria.

FAVOUR - ADOPTED

The youngest of three, Favour, is the little sister to Patrick and Anthonia . They lost their parents years ago and were being cared for by the State Welfare Home.  She is one of the first four children brought to Cornerstone of Hope Orphanage by the State Officials in April, 2006.  Favour’s favorite color is blue and his favorite thing to do is play with cars, especially jeeps.  He likes to sing and dance and would like to become a teacher.  His favorite clothes are jeans, skirts, hats, a blouse, and a skirt.

SAMUEL - ADOPTED

Samuel is 6 years old. After being with the Ministry of Social Welfare for some time, he was brought to the Cornerstone of Hope Orphanage in November, 2006.  His favorite color is blue and he likes football (soccer).  Samuel like to play with cars and he likes wearing sunglasses.  His best clothes are shorts, polo shirts, and a baseball cap.  He would like to become a medical doctor.

VICTORIA - ADOPTED

Victoria is 2 years old. She was about two weeks old when someone found her in the bush. She was immediately brought to Cornerstone of Hope Orphanage (May, 2006) by officials of the State Social Welfare. The Orphanage was able to provide immediate and comprehensive care to treat her infections, and she has been a healthy, happy toddler since then.
